Rebecca McMahon started as a County Extension Agent in Sedgwick County in November 2007. She graduated from Iowa State University in 2006 with a B.S. in Horticulture and International Agriculture. She then worked for The Chef’s Garden, Inc. in Huron, OH for two growing seasons, starting as an assistant grower in the Herbs and Edible Flowers area. She then worked in new product development and did on-farm variety trials during her second season.
Rebecca grew up on a family dairy farm in northwestern Wisconsin. She got her start in horticulture raising prize-winning gladiolus at the age of 5, and went on to explore all areas of horticulture through 4-H and NJHA. She loves unique plant varieties, and is excited to share her love of purple carrots, brown and green striped tomatoes, and gold beets with the people of Sedgwick County.
